India’s very own star shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen are going to represent the tricolour at HYLO Open. HYLO Open Super 500 tournament is an annual badminton tournament held in Germany. Both Srikanth and Sen are looking promising before the onset of the tournament which will commence on Tuesday. Srikanth was last seen going toe-to-toe in a hard-fought battle against Japan’s Kento Momota. Though he fell short of the two-time world champion in the second round of the French Open, it perfectly demonstrated his finesse.
On the other hand, the young gun Lakshya Sen has had a respectable achievement so far in his young career. He managed to reach the second round in Denmark Open and quarterfinals in French Open. Now, he’s all set to lock horns with the Frenchman Thomas Rouxel. Last year, Sen was forced to pull out of the event after his father and coach tested COVID positive. However, this time his eyes will be set to leave a mark.

Talking about Kidambi Srikanth, he’s set to enter the competition with a match against Japan’s Koki Watanabe. However, these are not the only men shouldering the expectations of India. Some of them are Subhankar Dey, HS Prannoy, among many others. Subhakar Dey is set to face Korea’s Lee Dong Keun. HS Prannoy will be facing the Irish Nhat Nguyen in the HYLO tournament opener.
India has its hopes alive in the men’s and women’s doubles in B Sumeeth Reddy, Manu Attri, Ashwini Ponnappa, and N Sikki Reddy. HYLO tournament has been organized in Germany since 1988. Sponsored by beer brewery Bitburger and automobile giant BMW, India has won it 5 times, thrice in the men’s singles category, and once in men’s doubles and mixed doubles each. This year has also brought a great opportunity to increase this number.
