If you are someone who will be traveling to India from high-risk Omicron-hit countries, then it will be mandatory for you to pre-book your RT-PCR test slot from Monday onwards. This decision has been made in the wake of the sudden rise in the newly-mutated Omicron cases worldwide. As of now, the Omicron variant is the fastest-spreading COVID variant. However, its effect on the human body is yet to be known. As of now, Omicron has managed to infect 161 people in the nation. To facilitate the pre-booking of RT-PCR tests, the ‘Air Suvidha’ portal will be modified. The 6 major cities where these changes are to be made are Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata. However, if you are visiting India from any of the high-risk countries, then you need to know about the steps to pre-book your RT-PCR slots:
- Visit the official website of the international airport of the city you are visiting.
- On the web portal, find the ‘Book COVID-19 Test’ option. It will be on the top panel. Click on it.
- After that, select the type of travel. In your case, it will be international travel.
- Fill up your details. You will be asked to fill in your name, email ID, phone number, Aadhaar card/passport number, address, appointment date, and time slot.
- After filling in all the details, select the type of test. In your case, select RT-PCR testing. You can also select the Rapid PCR test.
- Finally, complete the process by following the further mentioned steps on the screen and book a slot.

In the case of the RT-PCR test, it will cost you Rs. 500 and will take 6-8 hours. For the Rapid PCR test, it will cost you Rs. 3,500 and will take a mere 30 minutes to show results.
