The year 1980, is well remembered for the song Ek to Main Jawan, sung by the legendary singer Asha Bhonsle. This song belonged to the film “Kismet”. The film was directed by Vishal Anand, and the enchanting music was given by none other than Bappi Lahiri and Amit Khanna. A typical 80’s plot from Bollywood, isn’t it? But this movie managed to give us one of the most loved couples of B-Town, Shivangi Kolhapure and Shakti Kapoor! It was Shivangi Kolhapure’s debut film, and not only did the film bring her fame, but also got her the love of her life at the mere age of 18.
The plot of the film revolved around a poor boy Moti, living with his widowed mother and sister, falling in love with a beautiful woman named Ganga. When Moti brings Ganga home to meet his mother and sister, they welcome her to stay. A few days later, a group of armed men forcibly enter their house and claim that Ganga is a runaway prostitute and hold her captive. On returning home, Moti becomes angry at not finding Ganga. So does he rescue Ganga before she is forced into prostitution?

An Indian Actress and Singer, Shivangi Kolhapure was born in 1964. Being a resident of Kolhapur, she adopted her surname. She is 5 ft 4 inches tall and is the wife of Actor Shakti Kapoor. Her father was a famous classical singer and her mother worked for airlines. Her sisters Padmini Kolhapure and Tejaswini Kolhapure are both younger to her. Padmini was a popular actress and tied a knot with Pradeep Sharma. Her other sibling Tejaswini had tied a knot with director Pankaj Saraswat. Shivangi has an uncanny resemblance to her sister Padmini and has often been mistaken for her.

Note- The producer of Kismet, Yash Kohli, originally wanted to cast Padmini in the movie, but as she was unavailable, Shivangi Kolhapure was brought on board to do the film.
Marriage story
Kapoor and Kolhapure fell in love with the sets of Kismet and dated for around 2 years before tying the knot in 1982. At that time she was merely 18 years old. Since both families were against the marriage, which led to them eloping and the wedding being a court marriage. After a respective amount of time, Kapoor’s family accepted the marriage, but unfortunately, Shivangi Kolhapure did not face the same treatment back home. The couple has a strong and lovely marriage life for over 37 years now.
Children
She became a mother to her firstborn, Siddhant Kapoor in 1984. Later she gave birth to a baby girl, Shraddha Kapoor as her daughter who was born in 1987. By this time Shivangi’s family had accepted her back. Currently, she resides in Juhu.
Shivangi Kolhapure left the industry post-marriage and got busy building a family. She is known to be a practitioner of Theta Healing and Sukyo Mahikari Techniques. She often holds workshops for these.
