The New Education Policy is set to be implemented from April 2022 in Assam. From April, the high schools will be upgraded to senior secondary schools. The state government is preparing all the paperwork so that all the backend work can be completed by March. The government also wants to update the academic infrastructure of the schools. Apart from Mathematics, English and General Science, all other subjects will be taught in the mother tongue. The Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that numerous chances and opportunities will be provided to the younger generation of Assam, one of them being to give Rs 1 lakh to the eligible nominees. He also said that their goal is to work for the benefit and upliftment of the common people and they will make sure they accomplish it in any way.
He also mentioned while interacting with the media that for the upcoming five years, Assam State Government will continue implementing new policies and plans to improve the education system in the state. Dr. Ranoj Pegu who is the Education Minister of Assam was also present during the media interaction. The candidates will be provided with jobs in the education sector besides conducting the Teachers’ Eligibility Test(TET).

The New Education Policy will strengthen the education level in the state. Around 767 candidates are hired by the Chief Minister on the occasion whereas 32 candidates are appointed under the department of Directorate of Secondary Education and 616 eligible applicants are hired under the Directorate of Elementary Education. Furthermore, 113 applicants are hired under higher education. The Assam government will implement this policy in stages as 75% will be implemented by 2022 and 100% will be implemented by 2023. The colleges and schools have already been informed and the implementation of the policy is underway.
