An elderly gentleman who received a Ph.D. diploma has confirmed that one’s age will not be a hindrance to further education. Thangappan, a resident of Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari area who earned his doctorate at the age of 73, is profiled in this article. Originally from the Thirparappu area of the Kanyakumari region, Thangappan worked as a trainer and headmaster at Devasam Board School for many years. Despite this, he has continued to cultivate cashews on his family’s land, 15 years after he officially retired from the workforce. In this particular instance, he possessed an insatiable curiosity for training as well as an ardent curiosity about Gandhian ideas. Thangappan investigated the meaning of Gandhian philosophy in today’s world of terrorism as a result of his insatiable interest in Gandhian concepts. Dr. RN Ravi, the present Governor of Tamil Nadu, awarded him his Ph.D. after he spent the preceding eight years conducting the study. Eventually, Thangappan has completed his MA (History), MEd, and MPhil degrees, among other qualifications. The single man claims that he has to be educated for the rest of his life and that he should follow Gandhian principles in doing so. He went on to say that “Gandhian ideals are essential in today’s world of terrorism,” and that only Gandhian ideas have the potential to eliminate terrorism and hatred. “All of the citizens of this country should adhere to the principles that Gandhiji bequeathed for us,” he stated. Thangappan, who is 73 years old, also stated that education should be available to everybody at any age since it has the potential to bring peace to the globe.
