Big Boss is an Indian reality TV game show where the contestants live together in a house isolated from the outside world. The contestants are kept under live cameras that observe their every move. They perform several tasks and avoid elimination to be declared as Big Boss winners. The show was first released on 3 November 2006 and still airs on the Colors channel. It was formerly presented by various Bollywood celebrities, including Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Farah Khan, and currently by Salman Khan.
Bigg Boss is a Hindi language version of the British-Dutch reality show called “Big Brother”, produced by the Endemol Shine Group – the same company producing and distributing Big Boss. The reason for the massive popularity of the game show is that it is extended into seven languages spoken in India, and therefore it caters to a large number of audiences. The show’s winner is chosen by the audience or the general public and gets a trophy along with a 50 lakh rupees check.
List of Big Boss Winners from Season 1 to Season 14
Season 1 – Rahul Roy (2006)
Prize Money – 1 Crore
Rahul Roy is an Indian film producer, actor, and a model known for his works in television and Bollywood. He rose to stardom with his debut film ‘Aashiqui‘, directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Rahul Roy participated in the first season of the show, in which Arshad Warsi was the host. Roy won that season of Big Boss while Carol Gracias was the runner-up.
Season 2 – Ashutosh Kaushik (2008)
Prize Money – 1 Crore
Ashutosh Kaushik is an Indian reality TV participant and actor. He has appeared in movies like Zila Ghaziabad, Laal Rang and Kismat Love Paisa Dilli. Kaushik rose to fame after winning the 5th season of MTV Hero Honda Roadies in 2007. He won the second season of Big Boss in 2008, in which Shilpa Shetty was the host while Raja Chaudhary was the runner-up in that season.
Season 3 – Vindu Dara Singh (2009)
Prize Money – 1 Crore
Vindu Dara Singh is an Indian television and film actor. In 1996 he performed the role of Hanuman in a Sony Entertainment television series, ‘Jai Veer Hanuman’. Vindu also appeared in several Bollywood movies like Garv, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Housefull 2 and Son of Sardar. He is the only son of Dara Singh, who was a very famous wrestler and actor. Amitabh Bachchan was the host of 3rd season of Big Boss. Vindu is the third season winner, while Pravesh Rana finished the season in the second position.
Season 4 – Shweta Tiwari (2010)

Shweta Tiwari is an Indian actress who works in Hindi television and movies. She rose to stardom with her role ‘Prerna Sharma’ in a highly successful soap opera, known as “Kasautii Zindagi Kay.” Shweta also won Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur along with Kapil Sharma. Shweta appeared in various other soap operas like Mere Dad Ki Dulhan (2019-20), Begusarai (2015-16) and Parvarrish (2011-13). She is the winner of the fourth season in which Salman Khan was the host while Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as ‘Khali’, was the runner-up in that season.
Season 5 – Juhi Parmar (2011)

Juhi Parmar is an Indian actress, presenter, anchor, dancer and singer mainly known for her work in the Hindi television industry. She rose to stardom with the role of Kumkum in the iconic soap opera Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Sambandh. Subsequently, she got the part of Chaaya in Karmaphal Daata Shani. Sanjay Dutt hosted the fifth season of Bigg Boss in which Juhi was announced the winner, while Mahek Chahal was the runner-up.
Season 6 – Urvashi Dholakia (2012)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Urvashi Dholakia is an Indian television actress predominantly known for her portraying Queen Iravati in Chandrakanta and Komolika Majumdar in Kasautii Zindagi Kay. She is also popular for participating in the ninth season of Nach Baliye. Urvashi is the winner of the sixth season of Big Boss, in which Salman Khan was the host while Imam Siddique was the runner-up in that season.
Season 7 – Gauhar Khan (2013)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Gauhar Khan Darbar is an Indian actress and model. As a struggling model, she made her acting debut with Yash Raj Films’ Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. Gauhar also featured in films such as the romantic comedy ‘Badrinath Ki Dhulania’, the suspense thriller ‘Fever’, the action thriller ‘Game’, the revenge drama ‘Ishaqzaade’, and the Indian period drama ‘Begum Jaan’.She won the seventh season of Big Boss, in which Salman Khan was the host while Tanisha Mukerji was the runner up in that season.
Season 8 – Gautam Gulati (2014)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Gautam Gulati is an Indian TV and film actor known for his comical roles in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. He played the role of Devadutta in the movie ‘Siddhartha- The Buddha’. Gulati also appeared in Rakesh Mehta’s short film Darpok, which was the official selection at the 67th Cannes Film Festiva. In 2019 he performed the role of a Secret Agent in Operation Cobra, a series on Eros Now. Salman Khan was the host for the eighth season of Big Boss. Gautam won the season while Karishma Tanna was the runner-up.
Season 9 – Prince Narula (2016)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Prince Narula is an Indian actor and model. He is famous for winning the twelfth season of MTV Roadies. Prince is also known for his portrayal of Lucky in & TV’s drama series Badho Bahu. Now he appears as a Gang Leader in MTV Roadies along with Neha Dhupia, Raftaar, Nikhil Chinapa and Ranvijay Singh. In 2015, he participated in the ninth season of Big Boss, in which Salman Khan was the host and emerged as a winner while Rishabh Sinha got the second position in the season.
Season 10 – Manveer Gurjar (2016)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Manveer Gurjar is an Indian actor famous for his roles in The Bridge (2020), Radhe (2021), and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (2008). Manveer got his fame after winning Big Boss 10. Before the show, he was an ordinary farmer from Noida. He became popular on the social media as he was a participant in Big Boss. He earned a great deal of stardom that made him won the show with Salman Khan as the host while Bani J acquired the second position in the show.
Season 11 – Shilpa Shinde (2017)
Prize Money- 50 Lakh
Shilpa Shinde is an Indian television actress famous for her role in Star Pus’s soap opera Bhabhi. Shinde also appeared in & TV’s sitcom Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai! In February 2019, Shilpa joined Indian National Congress ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election. In 2017, she participated in the eleventh season of Big Boss with Salman Khan as the host. Shilpa emerged as the winner of the season, while Hina Khan was the runner-up in the show. Shilpa got a trophy along with a 50 lakh rupees check.
Season 12 – Dipika Kakar (2018)
Prize Money- 30 Lakh
Dipika Kakar is an Indian actress who primarily in Hindi television. Kakar made her TV debut in 2010 with the role of Lakshmi in Neer Bhare Tere Naina Devi. Subsequently, she got a part in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. However, her career took a flight from here. She is popular for portraying Simar Bhardwaj in Sasural Simar Ka and playing Sonakshi Rastogi in Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum. She was a contestant in the twelfth season of Big Boss and emerged as the winner, with Salman Khan as the host while Shanthakumaran Sreesanth was the runner-up in that season.
Season 13 – Siddharth Shukla (2019-20)
Prize Money- 40 Lakh
Sidharth Shukla is an Indian model, actor and host who appears in Hindi television and films. He is famous for his roles in Balika Vadhu, Dil Se Dil Tak and Broken But Beautiful. In addition, he hosted many episodes of India’s Got Talent and Savdhaan India. Siddharth won the World’s Best Model title in December 2005, surpassing 50 other contestants across Latin America, Asia and Europe. He made his movie debut in a supporting role in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Shukla also won the seventh season of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. In addition, he emerged as the winner of the thirteenth season of Big Boss, in which Salman Khan was the host while Asim Riaz was the runner up in this season.
Season 14 – Rubina Dilaik (2020-21)
Prize Money- 36 Lakh
Rubina Dilaik is an Indian TV actress. She is famous for portraying Soumya Singh in Colors TV’s Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki.and Radhika in Zee TV’s Choti Bahu. The fourteenth season of Big Boss began on 3 October 2020 and ended on 21 February. Rubina Dilaik won the title, while Rahul Vaidya was the runner-up of the show. Rubina won a trophy along with 36 Lakh rupees prize money. Rakhi Sawant and Aly Goni were out from the final race.
