BJP responsible for stopping the criminalization of politics in Manipur says JP Nadda. BJP president JP Nadda, on Friday, claimed that the party-led government had brought down militancy and prevented the criminalization of politics in Manipur. “Five years ago, politics was criminalized in Manipur, where anti-India forces were getting stronger day by day. The BJP government stopped these,” Nadda said while addressing a rally in the state capital Imphal, without naming the previous Congress government.
There was instability when the insurgency was at its peak, he said, adding that the insurgents roamed freely. There was a dispute between the hills and the (Imphal) valley. Elsewhere, there were other conflicts. The BJP president said the Narendra Modi government tried to restore stability through ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. The statement comes against the backdrop of the deadly attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in the state in which seven people were killed – a colonel, his wife, son, and four other soldiers.
Keeping the poll pot boiling, the BJP state unit has called an election strategy meeting on Thursday
Nadda said that he remembered a Manipur where the blockade would not only continue. One day, one week, or one month but for one year. That used to be an image of Manipur then, he stated. He also said that the roads which used to shed blood have been converted into double lanes and dilapidated bridges have been made an evergreen asset by the BJP government. Nadda said that the work of connecting the Valley with the railway network is also being expedited. Nadda was influenced by the Manipur government’s “Go to Village” mission, which was launched to ensure the delivery of services and benefits of welfare schemes at the doorsteps of the people. The BJP president was in the state to chalk out a strategy for the assembly elections to be held in February.
