NIT Sikkim‘s permanent campus, which will be built near Khamdong, will be ready by 2024, according to MoS Subhas Sarkar. Subhas Sarkar, Union Minister of State for Education, declared on Sunday that the permanent campus of NIT Sikkim will be completed by 2024 and that work would begin soon. Since its beginning, NIT Sikkim has been operating from a makeshift campus in Ravangla.
Sarkar also stated that the second phase of the Sikkim Central University campus in Yangyang, South Sikkim, will be finished in two and a half years. Sikkim, according to Subhas Sarkar, is leading the way in implementing the new National Education Policy. Separate colleges are being restructured in order to promote transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary curricula. The conference was hosted by the Sikkim Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, an open school board that caters to the diverse academic needs of children from secondary through senior secondary school, as well as skill and vocational education.

Since its beginning in 2010, NIT Sikkim has operated out of a makeshift campus in Ravangla.
Sarkar, who is in the state for a two-day visit, also stated that the second phase of the Sikkim Central University campus in Yangyang, South Sikkim, will be completed in the next two and a half years. Sarkar spoke at a national conference titled “NEP 2020: Towards India-Centred Holistic Inclusive Quality School Education.” The conference was organized by the Sikkim Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, an open school board that caters to the diverse academic needs of students from secondary through senior secondary school, as well as skill and vocational education. Sarkar noted that the restructuring of independent institutions for multifunctional and interdisciplinary courses has begun, noting that Sikkim has taken the lead in implementing the new National Education Policy (NEP).
