In the wake to restore to our old physical ways of education after the chapter of the pandemic, the education ministry is all set to make the assessing parameters used in the 10th and 12th board exams uniform. This decision will affect all the state and central boards likewise. This is being done to bridge the gap between the different education boards across the nation. Another solid reason behind this idea is that while some of the boards are pretty lenient, others are pretty strict in marking. This also makes comparing the capabilities of two students based on their performances in their respective boards quite tricky and difficult. This will be an attempt to create a common reference based on which a student’s performance can be measured.

According to some reports, the Ministry has given the task of creating the guidelines regarding the new marking rules to the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). A big reason the marking scheme is becoming the same for every educational board and class is because of different treatment received by the students belonging to different boards during college admissions. This year, in Delhi University admissions, it was found that 90% of the students admitted belonged to either CBSE or Kerala Boards. It was also said that in Kerala Board, the final mark sheets showed the average marks scored by students in classes 11 and 12. However, normally, only class 12 marks are considered. Now, to bridge this gap between different boards, the AIU has been given the task to provide guidelines, which will then be reviewed by the ministry.
