Hema Malini, a veteran performer and Member of Parliament from Maharashtra, replied to a comment made by a fellow member of Parliament from the state, who used her ‘cheeks’ as a metaphor to convey how he wants the roads in his area to appear. In her most recent interview, Hema stated that such remarks should not be directed at any lady in particular. Gulabrao Patil, Maharashtra’s water supply and sanitation minister made the comparison between the progress that he intends to bring about in his area on Sunday during a political party event. He stated that he would like the roads to be as smooth as Hema’s cheeks are now. While he later apologized for the insult, Hema added in an interview with news agency ANI that she would rather “keep my cheeks properly and safely protected.” As the saying goes, “Such utterances should be avoided at all costs.”

The well-known actor went on to say that she would have overlooked the comment if it had been made by a member of the general public, but that the statement had been made by an MP.
