Founder and CEO Aakash Sinha of Omnipresent Robot Technologies has claimed that his company was successful in conducting the longest drone flight ever done in India to review the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation(HPCL) pipeline in Haryana. The flight of Omni-Hansa V5 was 51 kilometers long and was carried out on November 3. The Founder of the company also mentioned that the flight was on auto-pilot and the previous longest flight was 42 kilometers long.
He also added that Omni-Hansa doesn’t need a runway as it takes off and lands like a helicopter but when in the air, it flies like a plane. A tracking mechanism is also embedded in the drone through which the technicians could track it. The drone is called a hybrid fixed-wing VTOL. HPCL wishes to extend the range of the drone to 100 to 200 kilometers. The flight was a BVLOS(Beyond Visual Line of Sight) flight. As permitted by the DGCA, the flight went up to a maximum of 400 feet. Officials of HPCL were also present during the survey. The pipeline runs from Bahadurgarh in Haryana to Delhi. This is a record in India.
