It is big news for India’s very own COVID vaccine. Recently, the Government of the Sultanate of Oman recognized COVAXIN shots for travel without quarantine. This is a big boost to the legitimacy and effectiveness of COVAXIN. While WHO is having second thoughts on whether the COVAXIN should be approved or not, more and more nations have been accepting it with open arms. People who have been jabbed by COVAXIN can travel to OMAN without going through 14 days of quarantine.
According to the official circular by the Embassy of India, Muscat, people who have been jabbed twice by COVAXIN, at least 14 days before travelling don’t require going through quarantine. It is worth to be noted that Covishield has already been added to the list of approved vaccines. This step by Oman will ease up the travel from India to Oman even more. This is because many people in India have been jabbed by Bharat Biotech’s very own COVAXIN.
As per its approval by the WHO for emergency use listing (EUL), some additional clarifications are required to conduct a risk-benefit analysis for its global use. The final risk-benefit analysis will be done by the technical advisory group (TAG) of WHO on November 3rd. It will be interesting to see if COVAXIN gets approved for EUL or not.
WHO said a review of India’s Covaxin has begun
The addition of COVAXIN to Oman’s approved list strongly points towards the legitimacy of India’s very own vaccine. Not only Oman, but countries like Nepal, Zimbabwe, the Philippines, Iran, and others have also given their approval for COVAXIN. It is worth noting that nearly 120 million Indians have been jabbed by COVAXIN.
Since the pandemic started, countries have been working hard to find a cure for this. Many countries have found many reliable vaccines to battle COVID-19. Not only COVAXIN but Indians are being jabbed by AstraZeneca’s Covishield and Russian Sputnik V as well. While Covishield has been approved by WHO, COVAXIN is still waiting for it.
