The season of the elections is on. With the assembly elections in three states to be contested within the first quarter of 2022, all the parties have been giving their all to turn the voters and tides in their favor. The three states where the assembly elections are to be contested are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. Recently, while attending the national executive meeting of BJP Kisan Morcha in Gurgaon, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, said that the PM had shown historic heartedness by repealing the farm laws. While talking to the media, he said that this year, the whole nation was celebrating the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark the auspicious event of 75 years of India’s independence. During such a glorious time, he did not want any disagreements among people in any part of the country. As a result, with careful consideration and showing large-heartedness, he finally decided to repeal the existing farm laws.
Protesting farmers write to PM Narendra Modi
Even though he emphasized the fact that the farm laws were for the betterment of the farmers, he said that there were protests from a small segment of the farmers’ community. To maintain unity and integrity among the people, it was ultimately decided to repeal the farm laws. During the meeting, he was also asked if the party would talk about the benefits of the repealed laws during their election campaign in the UP and Uttarakhand, he replied by saying “Khoobiyan to hein hi.” During the media interaction, the Union minister also had some words for the decisions taken for the betterment of agricultural development under the BJP rule. He talked about the increase of MSP to 1.5 times the cost, the formation of 10,000 farmer producer organizations, and providing a fund worth Rs 1 lakh crore for the infrastructural development in the agricultural sector.
