Surjewala’s Assertions-
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said despite all evidence, why did the government agencies not investigate corruption in Rafale. “Not just parts of the deal, the entire deal is suspect,” he alleged. Surjewala claimed Modi purchased 36 aircraft without complying with due process, increased the price from Rs 526 crore to Rs 1,670 crore, dumped the technology transfer clause, and went to the extent of eliminating the no-corruption clause.”
Chidambaram’s Criticism-
Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram in a series of tweets said eight new dates have been revealed in the deal. “Surely, the PM and, if not PM, then Defence Minister can tell us what events happened on these dates?” If there is no mystery, he said, why doesn’t the government tell the whole story in one sitting? He asked, “Why should ‘events’ and ‘facts’ tumble out of the cupboard one by one?
Khera stated that the Supreme Court never said no to a JPC and he demands JPC. “Now, we want this truth to come out… Why isn’t the BJP asking for a JPC?” says Khera. Congress also stated that later this month party will be freshly applying for JPC.
