In today’s era of rap and pop songs, it becomes very difficult to find a soulful song. Most of us are more inclined to party songs. Some of the party songs presented as remakes in movies and we usually hear in DJ parties are actually remixes of the old retro songs, especially Santosh Anand songs. Everything people woild see on the silver screen, from bell bottoms to polka dots to hairstyles, had an impression on the audience. This is why the 1980s is referred to as the ‘Golden Era’ of Indian cinema.
Listening to old songs is like eating a box of chocolates, just like chocolates you will try to eat one but with a belly full of sweetness. Once you go back to that time, there is no going back. You would think this is your favourite song that will remind you of all the good times and then you will listen to the other one and the list will keep growing.
The lyrics of every old Hindi song have a beautiful memory of it. There are hardly any songs that are not our favourite songs and do not remind us of someone or any place. The trend of remixing retro songs in Bollywood is gaining popularity. Many replicated songs, such as “Ek Do Teen” and “Dilbar,” have flooded the market in recent months, but many of them have failed to gain traction.

CHANGING ERA
Today, no music album is complete without a handful of repeated songs, which may share the same tune and catch lines (mukhda), but lose their essence due to rewritten paras (antara). Several people have suggested that the music industry today is looking for a shortcut by repurposing classic songs. Our industry insiders believe this is because the goal today isn’t to have a shelf-life.
The enthusiasm for talent shows has changed the music industry a lot. From rap artists like Badshah, Honey Singh, and Raftaar to melodic tunes by Arijit Singh and AR Rehman, one transports to a happy place in no time. Even though Indians appreciate the best music from around the world, there is a certain allure to Hindi songs that makes them all want to dance to the beats and identify with the lyrics.
The flicks are synced with the music and are strategically put in the film to develop the plot. The majority of the film’s songs are designed and visualized in such a way that they provide light moments in otherwise dark plot lines, ensuring that the audience truly enjoys the performance.
For many of us, ancient Hindi songs were not just songs, but emotions and feelings. These songs reminded us of our childhood, our first crush, long-lost friendships, or many other memories. But why are these songs so nostalgic? If you still listen to old Bollywood songs today, you can’t deny that these songs had a complementary mix of beautiful songwriting and poignant lyrics. The originality and catchy lyrics of the retro Hindi songs sold them.
