Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, and Dhanush are set to star in Aanand L Rai’s forthcoming movie Atrangi Re, which is set to stream on the platform Disney+ Hotstar from December 24 onwards. In her forthcoming picture Atrangi Re, Sara Ali Khan’s role of Rinku Sooryavanshi, a confrontational young woman, wishes to have both Akshay Kumar and Dhanush as lovers and doesn’t want to leave either of them, even as she confesses in the film, ‘Ek Baar Ek ladki ko dono mil jaayenge toh kya aafat aa jayegi?’ which translates to what would happen if the girl gets both the guys this time. The movie, which signifies Sara’s first affiliation with director Aanand L Rai, is a crooked and complicated love triangle that has never really been seen before in Indian cinema. While a category of people is proclaiming Sara’s speech as empowering, the actress explains that it’s only her character’s purity and innocence that they are portraying through the special scene and are not trying to convey any sort of feminist statement through it. For her, this is not seen as a feminist movement.

The actress also stated that this is not a riot. She is not attempting to take a societal stance. It is about everybody, whether it’s a guy or a girl. The character of Rinku just happens to be a girl. The movie is supposed to be about love, craving love, and being truthful and innocent. The one thing that Aanand Rai was very apparent about is no matter what lines she is saying including the above-mentioned line there’s no arrogance in that; there’s no privilege; there’s only purity in the way she’s saying that. And to jer, it seems very interesting. Atrangi Re is a movie of a cross-cultural love story in Bihar and Madurai. Sara plays a proper Bihari girl and Dhanush embarks the part of a Tamilian student.
