Sudha Chandaran born on 27 September 1965 is an accomplished Indian actress and dancer who often appears in Indian Television and movies. She has appeared in many Hindi as well as Tamil serials and has been a renowned face in the Bollywood industry.
Sudha Chandaran Early and Personal Life
Sudha Chandaran was born to Late KD Chandaran on 27 September 1965. She was born in Mumbai but her family originates from Vayalur, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. Her father worked at USIS and was a former actor. Sudha completed her B.A. in Economics from Mithibai College, Mumbai, and thereafter her M.A. in Economics.
In 1861, when Sudha Chandaran was of about 16 years of age in Tamil Nadu, she met with an accident that wounded her legs. At first, she was admitted to a local hospital but was later transferred to Vijaya Hospital at Madras. The doctors discovered that Gangrene had formed on her right leg and it required amputation. Chandaran had afterwards stated that this was the hardest time of her life. She later gained some mobility with the help of a prosthetic Jaipur leg.
Sudha Chandaran had always been passionate about dancing and after her amputation, she had to stop for two years which disheartened her but never broke her faith. After two years she started dancing again and performed in India, Saudi Arabia, United States, UK, Canada, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen, and Oman.
Career
Sudha Chandaran started her career with Mayuri, a Telugu film that was based on her life struggles and how she overcame them. Mayuri was later dubbed in Tamil and Malayalam. It was also dubbed in Hindi, and renamed as Nache Mayuri, where Chandaran again played herself co-starring with Shekhar Suman, Aruna Irani, and Dina Pathak. At the National Film Awards, she was awarded the 1986 Special Jury Award for her performance in Mayuri.
Some of Sudha’s significant works on television are Kaahin Kissii Roz and K Street Pali Hill. She was also a contestant in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2 in 2007. She also worked in Yamini, a TV serial in 2015.

Sudha won an Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role for Tumhari Disha in 2005. She was presented at the Asianet Television Awards in 2013 for the Best Character Actress for Aardram.
Sudha was also awarded the Vijay Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress for Deivam Thandha Veedu in 2014. She received the Vijay Television Award for the Best Mother in law for Deviam Thandha Veedu in 2015.

When Sudha was 16 in 1986, she was travelling to Trichy via bus and she met with an accident.
Sudha Chandaran had a few small cuts and a fracture in the femur bone of her right leg which ultimately turned into Gangrene due to which doctors had to amputate her right leg or she would have died if it had spread through her body.
Her life depended on that amputated leg. Her parents had to decide whether they wanted to get their daughter’s leg amputated or not and they decided in its favour. After her leg amputation, she had completely lost all hopes. She even lost her faith in God. This period of her life was the hardest but she took a positive outlook on life and decided to not give up and keep trying to get better.
Her passion for dance made her stronger day by day and she emerged as a winner. She performed for the first time at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai where some local newspaper took interest in her life and published an article about her.

Sudha Chandaran met Ravi Dang at the set of a movie where Dang was an Associate Director. She often used to greet everyone when she entered the set, but Ravi never acknowledged her greetings. Chandaran wondered and finally confronted him about it to which Dang told her that it was not in his protocol to wish her plus he was too busy to acknowledge anything. This impressed Sudha. She liked that someone could be that honest. She liked his focus and dedication towards the work. Then one day Dang told her about his sister who was a big fan of hers and had a desire to meet her. She met his whole family gradually and instantly had a good feeling about it.
Ravi often used to go with her to auditions. This made her feel special because there was no one in her family who she could count on like she could on Ravi. Dang’s family was happy about the alliance but Chandaran’s mother was against this union. She always wanted her to marry a Tamil Brahmin. She also never wanted her to marry someone from the industry. Sudha Chandaran had made up her mind to not marry without her mother’s permission. Somehow, Chandaran’s mother agreed. Thus, Sudha Chandaran and Ravi Dang tied a knot in a temple in 1995 and have now happily completed 27 years of marriage.
