Singapore has withdrawn its travel prohibition for people of India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka as of October 26. What are the new guidelines? Singapore has withdrawn its travel prohibition for citizens of India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka as of October 26, allowing those with a 14-day travel history to these countries to visit the city-state.
Only Singapore citizens and permanent residents, as well as visitors under the Death and Critical Illness Emergency Visits Lane, are permitted admission into this category, which is the tightest of Singapore’s four restriction categories. All other visitors, including those with prior entry permissions, are barred from entering Singapore.
In addition, qualifying travellers must undergo a Covid-19 RT-PCR test no later than 48 hours before departure, another test upon arrival in Singapore, and a 10-day stay at a designated quarantine facility.
Where does India Rank on the List of the World’s Most Powerful Passports?
Yes, the city-state has let people enter from other countries where the Covid-19 problem is under control. Notably, to avoid the ban on Indian travellers, people wishing to return to Singapore from India were required to spend 14 days in a third nation before travelling to Singapore.
Singapore also launched vaccinated travel lanes (VTL) with Germany and Brunei Darussalam in August. VTLs are essentially extended travel corridors, but only for fully vaccinated travellers. VTLs have now been expanded to Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, and South Korea.
Several other nations, including the UAE, Germany, Spain, the Maldives, Turkey, and Thailand, are permitting Indian visitors to some extent. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi stated last month that travellers flying to Turkey from India will no longer be required to undergo the customary 14-day quarantine upon arrival, as long as they are fully vaccinated.
Germany reclassified India in August as “high (Covid) incidence locations,” down from the harsher travel restriction classification of “viral variant areas.” As a result, the entry ban for Indian travellers was lifted. Spain also welcomes properly immunized Indian travellers.
