The education ministry is likely to change the marking rules of class 10 and class 12 students across states as now they will be evaluated on identical parameters. The state and central board students would not have discrepancies while pursuing admission to higher education universities or jobs. Presently, the marking held up by some boards is deemed lenient while other boards are stringent in their method. The Education Ministry is currently helping to link the gap within various state boards across the country. If statements are to be thought of, the Ministry has inquired the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to develop similar strategies which will pertain to all boards in the country. These guidelines and approaches will guarantee that pupils are marked similarly so no student feels behind. The details of the process to be rolled out, the modifications in the marking scheme, syllabus, or curriculum are not known yet. The central criteria will ensure that class 10, and class 12 students of India, disregarding the board they are in, will receive merit-based admissions.

The issue of several boards obtaining varied treatment came into the limelight when this year, during the Delhi University admissions, a nine-member committee figured that the five boards led by CBSE and Kerala Board had made up 90 percent of total students taking admission in the institution. Kerala Board had increased participation than the aggregate of Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab Board. Many assert that the Kerala state board utilized marks obtained by students in both classes 11 and 12 – this the final mark sheet hence amassed averaged out marks. While the other boards only used the class 12 marks for the final mark sheets. AIU has been reportedly assigned the duty of guaranteeing there is parity in class 10 and 12 boards across states.
