Mirzapur is back with its highly anticipated sequel after its very impressive first installment. Naturally, the sequel has very big shoes to fill. However, as of now, it has been embroiled in a controversy regarding one of its scenes. Novelist Surender Mohan Pathak has accused the makers of Mirzapur 2 of misrepresenting his 2010 novel Dhabba in one of its scenes. The scene in question depicts one of the characters played by the actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda reading an excerpt from the book titled “Dhabba”. The excerpt is highly sexual. However, the original book doesn’t have anything explicit like that. Pointing this out, the 81-year-old writer expressed disappointment and said that people watching this show would think that this is his life’s work.

However, this is not true since he never has used sexual or violent themes to attract attention to his writings. He further demanded the makers to pull this scene off the show or else he would be forced to take legal action against them. However, Mirzapur 2’s director and writer, Puneet Krishna apologized to Pathak for his mistake. Not only that, but he also assured the esteemed novelist that the scene in question would be removed from the series within 3 weeks. Krishna also provided a clarification on the matter saying that the voiceover delivered by the actor was completely unrelated to the novel. However, he also said that to rectify this situation, he will either blur the name of the book or completely remove the voiceover from the series within a time of 3 weeks. The highly anticipated Mirzapur sequel is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
