Travel to Saudi Arabia would no longer be exempt for Indian nationals who have been immunized with the indigenous COVID-19 vaccine, Covaxin. For Indians who work in the nation or intend to visit it soon, this is a tremendous relief. Saudi Arabia has licensed the Indian-made Covaxin vaccination for travel, according to a recent vaccine update. Indian citizens who have been properly vaccinated with homemade Covaxin can enter Saudi Arabia without restriction, according to the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia announced on Twitter that Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin has been added to the list of approved COVID-19 vaccines. Indian people who have gotten both doses of the vaccination are now free to travel to the country. Residents must upload their immunization certificates to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health’s official website, while tourists must register on the Muqeem website. According to The Siasat Daily, only Covishield was approved for Indians until this new upgrade.
Covaxin, a product of Bharat Biotech, is now recognized by a number of countries. Saudi Arabia has now included it in its list of approved COVID-19 vaccinations. Indian people who have been properly vaccinated with Covaxin are now free to visit the country. The World Health Organization (WHO) approved the use of Covaxin in an emergency situation in November 2021. Several nations, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Australia, began to recognize the vaccine for travel soon after. Only Covishield, another widely used vaccination in India, has previously received WHO approval. Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinovac, and Sinopharm are the latest countries to approve the vaccine, bringing the total number of licensed vaccines to seven.
