Most universities conduct competitive exams for admission purposes in different fields. For example, for admission in a medical or dental degree, The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) is held. Also known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), it is organized by the National Testing Agency. Having knowledge of total seats in NEET exam is an important criterion while preparing for the exam. However, the marks obtained in this examination play a significant role in the selection of deserving candidates.

The test offers 90,000 medical seats in India for MBBS and BDS Colleges. This exam is usually conducted in May annually. The Central Board of Secondary Education is the first to manage this exam (CBSE).

Qualification of getting the seats in NEET

Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology are the compulsory subjects to be taken in the classes 10th and 12th by the applicant. The candidate needs to qualify in all the subjects mentioned above. In addition, the degree of passing diploma is an essential requirement during the counseling round. The marks obtained in Mathematics are not a consideration for the NEET-undergraduate exam (NEET-UG).

The NEET examination takes place in 11 distinct languages. These exams are held offline and have a duration of three hours. However, this year due to the ongoing pandemic, the NEET UG exam will take place online on August 1 for admission to BDS, AYUSH, BVSc, AH, and MBBS seats.

As per the latest data of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI), the total seats in NEET available in 315 dental and 554 medical universities are 27,285 BDS and 83,075 MBBS seats.

Total seats in NEET 2021 cover all medical, Ayush, dental, and veterinary colleges. NTA has stated that results obtained in NEET 2021 can get used to getting nursing admissions in India. The state of Karnataka is offering the highest number of total seats in NEET. There are total 9345 MBBS seats in 60 colleges as per the statistics issued by the authority in the state. While the highest number of medical seats in India for BDS is 2503 seats; Uttar Pradesh offers it.

Total seats in NEET 2021

On MCC’s behalf, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will operate the seat allotment process for NEET 2021. Additionally, the process will commence once the NEET UG 2021 hopefuls fill their option of preferences.

There will be three rounds based upon the availability of the total seats in India for the NEET 2021. It also includes the mop-up round that will decide the selection of the candidates. In addition, the process will depend on the scores obtained from the NEET 2021 exam.
To participate in the seat allotment process, the aspirants should get qualifying marks in all three rounds of the NEET 2021 exam.
The seat allocation process regulates 15% All India Quota Seats (AIQ), 100% seats in Central/Deemed Universities, and ESIC and AFMC Universities.

For instance, the medicals seats in India reserved for the government colleges are 15% AIQ seats, while state counseling authorities grant the rest 85% seats.
Aspirants must submit their information such as academic, personal, and contact details to register their names for the seat allotment process.
The aspirants have to report to their respective universities at the given time and date after clearing the qualifying examination.
Once they get admission into a specific university based on their scores, they have to go through the document verification process without which the admission process is incomplete.

Total seats in NEET 2021 under All India Quota

The capital city Delhi has seven colleges providing the students 128 medical seats in India. However, the reputed college of AIIMS does not accept the marks of the NEET Examination.

GUJARAT

Gujarat is offering 138 MBBS seats and 21 medical seats in India for BDS from 2 Dental colleges.

KARNATAKA

There are Karnataka has 18 colleges offering medical seats in India for admission based on NEET scores. In addition, the colleges are offering 364 MBBS seats and 16 BDS seats from 2 Dental colleges.
