The features on the Chalo app enable commuters to buy bus tickets and pay them through an e-wallet. The app offers features like live bus tracking, and information on how crowded the vehicle is, along with its arrival time. Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray initiated the mobile application Chalo mobile application on Tuesday and Chalo smart cards which will enable digital, and advance purchase of the best bus tickets. The passengers can purchase tickets online and will have access to bus passes for purchase and renewal through the app and the Smart Card. A six-year contract worth Rs 85 crore has been provided regarding the expenditure of the app. Thackeray stated in an interview, “BEST has made commuting easy and flexible by initiating tap to pay smart cards and super saver plans…Beyond delivering flexible commute options for Mumbai, BEST is focused on digitization of services, Electric Vehicle Bus Fleet, reasonable fares, objectives of utilizing 100% alternate fuel buses by 2027, and a fleet size rise to 10,000 buses in the city.” He stated they were wishing to expand double-decker buses and introduce hydrogen fuel buses into the fleet.

He also stated, “We are dedicated to financially supporting BEST for better bus stops and the illumination of dark streets.” The app is for bettering and making it susceptible for commuters.
