In response to the increased number of coronavirus infections in Maharashtra, the Karnataka government announced new restrictions in state border areas on Tuesday, as well as additional monitoring measures for visitors from neighbouring states, particularly Mumbai. In the order, the Karnataka government set instructions for short-term visitors (two days or less) travelling from Maharashtra, including Mumbai, to Karnataka via any means of transportation – road, rail, or air.
Despite significant improvements in the COVID situation in both Karnataka and Maharashtra, the state government reports that the daily caseload and test positivity rate in Maharashtra are slightly higher than in Karnataka. On November 6, the State Advisory Committee on COVID-19 met in Bengaluru and decided to implement new limitations. Following the fall of cases in Karnataka and Maharashtra, these criteria were altered to allow for short-term visits.

In addition, the state government stated that if the travellers adhere to the state government’s standards, they will be spared from the necessary RT-PCR negative report for the duration of their visit.
- The state government, on the other hand, stipulated that the visitors be asymptomatic.
- While boarding, passengers travelling from Maharashtra to Karnataka must provide a self-declaration of their asymptomatic status.
- They must be subjected to thermal scanning upon arrival.
- They must have a Covid-19 vaccine certificate for both doses.
- They will be required to wear a mask and follow Covid standards in Karnataka.
- They would be required to present a valid return ticket to Maharashtra.
