The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai in its official notice announced that “to ensure the safe return of students to school, MCGM has decided to defer the decision of opening of schools for std. 1st to 7th by 14 days. School from std. 1st to 7th will open from 15th December 2021.
While in his public statement, BMC’s education officer Raju Tadvi said, “The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has posed a new threat before us. We need some time to ensure safety and implement precautionary measures. Hence, we have decided to reopen the physical attendance in schools from December 15.” There are 2,20,000 students studying in Classes 1 to 7 in the BMC schools. The Maharashtra government in its earlier announcement said that physical classes will be conducted from 1st December for 3-4 hours per day, following the guidelines strictly. Schools to be working on alternate days with 15-20 students only focusing on the then situation.
