According to the Union Education Ministry, the second round of the National Achievement Survey (NAS), intended at measuring the competencies of students in third, fifth, eighth, and tenth grades, will be held across the country on November 12 this year. NAS 2021 would involve 1.23 lakh schools in 733 districts throughout 36 states and Union Territories. The instrument creation, testing, finalisation of the test items, and sampling of the schools have all been done by NCERT, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education.
The actual administration of the exam in the sampled schools, however, would be done by CBSE in partnership with the individual states and Union Territories, according to the announcement. NAS 2021 will encompass all government schools in the country, including those run by the federal government and state governments, as well as government-aided schools and private schools. The last NAS was held on November 13 in 2017 for assessing the competencies of children from grade levels three, five and eight.

For classes three and five, NAS will be performed in language, mathematics, and EVS; for classes eight and ten, NAS will be held in language, mathematics, science, and social science; and for class ten, NAS will be conducted in language, mathematics, science, social science, and English. Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Bodo, Garo, Khasi, Konkani, Nepali, Bhutia, and Lepcha are among the 22 languages covered by the test.
Each State and UT has 1,82,488 field investigators, 1,23,729 observers, 733 district-level coordinators and district nodal officers, and 36 state nodal officials to ensure a smooth and fair survey. In each district, 1500 board representatives have been nominated to oversee general operations and ensure that the survey is conducted fairly. All of the employees have received comprehensive training in their respective jobs and duties.
