In order to promote religious tourism in India, a special train has been initiated from Delhi’s Safdarjung station. The train will cover around seven destinations which are related to Lord Ram. The Shri Ramayan Yatra train is launched under the program of “Dekho Apna Desh” (see your country) which is launched by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). IRCTC is got an outstanding response to this initiative such that the seats for the first tour got fully booked. The first destination of the Shri Ramayana Yatra train is Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh where tourists will visit Shri Ram Janam Bhoomi temple and Hanuman temple, which will be followed by Sitamarhi in Bihar. Rameshwaram is the last destination of the train after which it will return back to Delhi completing its 17-day journey.

There will be two categories in the train — 2AC and 1AC that will be boarded by around 156 passengers. The fare for both categories will be Rs 83,000 for the 2AC package and Rs 1.02 lakh for the 1AC package. The luxury tourist train offers several amazing features that include: fine dining restaurants, coaches with shower cubicles, sensor-based washroom functions, a modern kitchen and a massager for the foot. In the concern of Covid-19, all the necessary precautions and measures for health will be taken care of and safe and healthy travel will be provided for the tour. The passengers will be provided with separate lockers in order to ensure the safety of valuable items. The train also has CCTV cameras and security for the people and their belongings carried by them.
After receiving such an immense amount of positive response, IRCTC has decided to start a second tour for the train. The second trip of the Shri Ramayana Yatra Train will be begun in December. The reservation for the seats has already begun.
