India’s Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated the Parampara series which is a virtual dance and music festival that is aimed to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage. The virtual event is organised by Natya Tarangini in collaboration with the United Nations. The dance and music festival is to highlight our rich Indian culture. Furthermore, it has been dated to coincide with the World Day for Audio-visual Heritage. Parampara series has been continuing for 23 years and this year was the 24th edition of this series.
The Vice President acknowledged the organisers for taking an innovative step and still conducting the event given the pandemic situation. This is a great event to showcase India’s tradition and culture through dance and music to the world. The Vice President also mentioned the importance of the distinct art forms of dance, music and drama in our history and mythology. Dance and music renew our mind and soul by nourishing our inner spirit. He added that we should always review and restore our traditional treasures.

It was the best time to conduct an event like this which would rejuvenate us and give us a break from normal life which was disrupted by lockdowns and the pandemic. Various dignitaries from different countries, practitioners of classical dancers and students of the Natya Tarangini attended the event online. Numerous UN members also attended the event. The pageant, which is ongoing till November 21, will see performances by Pt Madhup Mudgal, Sawani Mudgal and Arushi Mudgal (November 19), Dr Thiruvaarur Bhakthavathsalam and Pt Yogesh Samsi (November 20), and Abhishek Raghuram and Pt Sanjeev Abhyankar (November 21). There may also be a particular look by artiste and founder duo Dr Raja and Dr Radha Reddy.
