The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has partnered with IIT Delhi to solve air pollution research gaps and study solutions as well as the impact on India’s health. AIIMS Delhi launched CAPHER, a network of researchers from medical and non-medical fields, in conjunction with IIT Delhi on Tuesday to bridge the research gap. It will propose and investigate remedies to India’s air pollution.
Dr Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Director, who launched the program, stressed the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to reducing the impact of air pollution on human health. Dr Harshal R. Salve, Assistant Professor at AIIMS’ Centre for Community Medicine and CAPHER’s Co-ordinator, said: “CAPHER India will bring together researchers from the exposure assessment and health sectors to fill research gaps and develop policy-level science-driven solutions to combat air pollution in India. AIIMS and IIT Delhi have formed a one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary, long-term collaboration.”
Dr Sagnik Dey, an associate professor at IIT Delhi, has been named CAPHER India’s coordinator. The active participation of workshop participants has resulted in the following outcomes:
