Two probable cases of the novel coronavirus AY.4.2 variant have been found, and the samples have been forwarded to a laboratory for genome sequencing, according to Karnataka Health Minister K Sudhakar. “There are two suspected cases of the AY.4.2 virus variant, and I’ve directed my department to send the samples for genomic sequencing for confirmation,” she said. The samples were transferred to Bengaluru’s National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) for testing, according to authorities with the health department. They further stated that both of the people afflicted are asymptomatic and from Bengaluru.
The AY.4.2 virus is a Delta form of a novel coronavirus that is quickly spreading in the United Kingdom, according to the researchers. Sudhakar said Karnataka has begun genome sequencing and has established six-seven (genome) facilities. Sudhakar claims that those who have had two doses of the COVID vaccine should not be concerned about the virus because it will have no effect on them. There is no reason to be alarmed, according to the minister, because the state administration has taken sufficient measures to halt the disease’s spread.
