Harbhajan Singh is 41 years old and he doesn’t shy away from admitting that he has waited too long to declare his retirement. He announced his retirement on Friday from all forms of the game and stated, “I felt I was a retired cricketer for the past few years but I postponed the announcement due to the IPL commitments that I had with Kolkata Knight Riders. Like every player, I also dreamt of retiring from the field in the India jersey but that wasn’t meant to be.” Harbhajan has been one of the most brutal cricketers and largest match-winners for India in the last two decades. He is a player any team would like to have in the dressing room. Minutes after declaring his retirement, he spoke about his career.
Paras Mhambrey has applied for the position of bowling coach for Team India
“To have come this far from the place that I have come from, there’s not much to regret. I am thankful for this wonderful game, my guruji, and my family. Indian cricket has unfolded dramatically and is in a new league now. I am very pleased that I could participate in how cricket in India is played. I am grateful to the BCCI and the Punjab Cricket Association. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah were thoughtful enough to call me up today. I wouldn’t have been able to serve as an India cricketer if it wasn’t for MP Pandove. I am so thankful that I got to play with legends like Anil Kumble, Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid. Moreover, they are great cricketers and even better human beings. These seniors had a huge effect on all the youngsters in the team. We were different sorts of cricketers. I was assertive but Rahul wasn’t. However, we learned discipline from Dravid.”
