On Thursday, the Health Ministry issued a statement saying that around 128 crore Covid-19 vaccines had been provided to the states and the union territories through the direct state procurement category. Around 114 crore vaccines have been administered within the country, a statement issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated. The ministry also mentioned that around 22 crore vaccines are still accessible with the states and union territories to be administered. In June 2021 the new phase of covid vaccinations began.
As the vaccines were available and the supply channel was being streamlined the vaccination drive has been ramped up. The government has also been providing vaccines free of cost to the states and union territories. As a new initiative, the central government will supply 75% of the vaccines manufactured in India and provide them to the states and Union Territories. The government has strived to vaccinate as many people as they can so they can fight Covid-19. The states and Union Territories have been efficient in their vaccination drives and try to ensure that more people get vaccinated.

Around 23 million doses were administered on his birthday breaking many records. Several states boosted their vaccination drives to cross any previous numbers. The first phase of the vaccination drive commenced in January with shots getting administered to Doctors and health workers. The country started vaccination drives for all people from April 1. The government then expanded its drive gradually.
