Mohali accomplished its promising Swachh Survekshan rankings by leaping from the 157th rank to 81st this year. It is second only to Patiala in the 13 cities in the state rankings. The city which holds 50 MC wards and a population of around 1 lakh marked 3510.06 points in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) performance. Around 372 cities across the country participated. The markings are way higher than the national average of 2072.00 and the state average of 2562.00. The garbage-free city (GFC) star ratings, however, lessened the overall rankings as no marks have been rewarded for it to Mohali. Officials said the exceptional rankings were a result of exceptional service-level progress and ODF++ certification, assuring toilets in villages and slum areas and promising solid waste management. Mohali’s decent Swachh Survekshan rankings were in 2018 when it was placed 109th.
