Anup Gupta is the son of the former BJP councilor Rajesh Gupta. He is contesting the elections for the first time. He will be contesting the elections from ward number 11. Both are contesting MC elections on Congress ticket. The ex-deputy mayor of Chandigarh, Vijay Singh Rana is at the third spot with total assets of Rs. 26.95 cr. On the fourth position, comes BJP’s Neetika Gupta with a net worth of Rs. 10.81 cr. It is to be noted that while 4 of the richest candidates are into business, Harpreet Kaur Babla is a housewife. The method employed by the Election Commission to measure the total assets owned by the election candidates is to consider their and their spouse’s assets. Both movable and immovable assets are considered. In this way, the net worth of each candidate is calculated.
