On Saturday, around two dozen Punjab agricultural organizations are set to create a political front or maybe a party and enter electoral politics. According to credible sources, the new political entity is likely to have the term ‘Sanyukt’ in its name much like Haryana-based BKU led by Gurnam Singh Charuni named its political wing, Sanyukt Sangharsh Party. Farm leaders who are willing to participate in electoral politics directly have been requested to travel to Chandigarh on Saturday, where the announcement is anticipated to be made. This political organization is likely to include somewhere between 20 and 25 agricultural groupings. This campaign will most likely be led by senior farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal.
According to reports, this political front may join forces with AAP at a later date. Ruldu Singh Mansa and Sukhdarshan Natt, two farmer leaders, revealed that agricultural leaders interested in electoral politics were urged to arrive in Chandigarh on Saturday. Ruldu Singh Mansa and Sukhdarshan Natt, two farmer leaders, claimed nothing could be said for sure, but over two dozen farmer groups are likely to attend. The entity’s name may contain the term ‘Sanyukt,’ they added. A number of agricultural organizations have shown an interest in participating in the 2018 Punjab assembly elections by creating an outfit. The majority of them were opposed to forming a coalition with conventional parties like the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Congress, or the Bharatiya Janata Party.
PM has shown historic large-heartedness by repealing farm laws
Many persons and organizations have urged the agricultural groups to get involved in politics, including a group of retired IAS, IPS, Army, and provincial services personnel. Surjit Singh Phool, the head of the BKU (Krantikari), and seven other farm unions out of 32 are opposed to the political ambitions of the other Punjab agricultural leaders. “We have declined to be part of electoral politics and have made it clear that any front or party, which is expected to be formed, must not use the name of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha for electoral gain. If it is done, it will be a violation of the SKM rules and we will take note of it,” Phool said.
