But since the beginning of the 21st century, the company kept on bringing our new blends in special and limited bottles. Here are some of Johnnie Walker’s blends:
Red Label
The popular Red Label is a non-age record blend. It is also the best selling scotch whisky in the world since 1945. Its best use is for making mixed drinks.
Black Label
Another popular blend by the company, this blend’s aging period is 12 years and it is one of the world’s best-selling Scotch whiskies after the Red Label. Unlike the Red Label price in India, the Black Label price for a 1L bottle is around Rs 4,000.
Double Black Label
The double black label was available to the general public in 2011 after a successful launch in the travel retail business. As its name suggests, the double black label was made using Black Label as a blueprint. But with the addition of more peaty malt whiskies to the Black Label and then then later keeping it in a heavily charred old oak casks for aging. Premium Labels
Green Label
The Green Label saw its release in the year 1997 as Johnnie Walker Pure Malt 15 Year Old. But later, in 2004 it saw a name change to Johnnie Walker Green Label. Unlike the other whiskies, the Green Label is a blended malt whisky. It means that it has mixed single malts without any addition of no grain whisky. All the whiskies in this label are a minimum of 15 years old.
Although the Green Label was discontinued globally in 2012, except for Taiwan. But after the reconstruction of the range, the label saw a re-release in 2016 and currently, it is globally available.
Gold Label
The Gold Label is a blend of over 15 single malts. Unlike the other whiskies above, the Gold Label was created from Alexander Walker II’s blending notes for a whisky to commemorate 100 years of Johnnie Walker. Earlier, the Gold Label had an ageing period of 18 years and had a banner that read “The Centenary blend” on the label. But in 2013, the blend’s name saw a name change to “Gold Label Reserve”.
Aged 18 Years
This blend was originally brought as the Platinum Label. It was to replace the original Gold Label in the Asian market. But it is still available around the world now it is sells under the name of Johnnie Walker Aged 18 Years.
Special Editions
Blue Label
The Blue Label is Johnnie Walker’s premium whisky blend. Johnnie Walker’s Blue Label had a mission of recreating the character and taste of some of the earliest whisky blends made by the company in the 19th century. It doesn’t come with any age statement.
These blend bottles hold special serial numbers and these are put in a silk-lined box with a certificate of authenticity. Also, the Blue Label is very expensive among all the other blends.
Johnnie Walker Swing
This blend is sold in a distinctive bottle with an irregular bottom. This allows it to rock back and forth. The Swing was also Alexander Walker II’s last blend. It comes with a high proportion of Speyside malts, with malts from the northern Highlands and Islay.
