Anup Gupta is the son of the former BJP councilor Rajesh Gupta. He is contesting the elections for the first time. He will be contesting the elections from ward number 11. However, he is not the only crorepati contesting the MC elections. While there is no shortage of them, let’s have a look at the top 5 of them. While the number 1 spot has been claimed by Gupta, thanks to his enormous net worth, it consists of Sisters Harpreet Kaur Babla and Balwinder Kaur, with assets of Rs. 32.78 cr and Rs. 35.48 cr.

Both are contesting MC elections on Congress ticket. The ex-deputy mayor of Chandigarh, Vijay Singh Rana is at the third spot with total assets of Rs. 26.95 cr. On the fourth position, comes BJP’s Neetika Gupta with a net worth of Rs. 10.81 cr. It is to be noted that while 4 of the richest candidates are into business, Harpreet Kaur Babla is a housewife. The method employed by the Election Commission to measure the total assets owned by the election candidates is to consider their and their spouse’s assets. Both movable and immovable assets are considered. In this way, the net worth of each candidate is calculated.
