Within a week or so, India’s mega-auction is going to take place which will witness a fight among the 10 franchises. With the addition of the two new teams-Lucknow and Ahmedabad, it will be the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League streaming this season. The auction is likely to be taken place on February 12 and 13 (Saturday and Sunday) in Bengaluru. The live streaming of the IPL 2022 mega auction will be available on Disney+ Hotstar and will be telecasted live on Star Sports Network from 12 pm onwards. A total of 590 players will be auctioned at the IPL 2022 mega auction of which 370 are Indians and 220 overseas.
A maximum of 25 players and a minimum of 18 players of which only 8 maximum foreign players are allowed per team in IPL 2022. The budget decided for all the teams are:
Chennai Super Kings: Rs 42 crores
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rs 57 crores
Mumbai Indians: Rs 48 crores
Punjab Kings: Rs 72 crores
Delhi Capitals: Rs 47.5 crores
Kolkata Knight Riders: Rs 48 crores
Rajasthan Royals: Rs 62 crores
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Rs 68 crores
All 10 franchises were allotted a purse of INR 90 crore. Depending upon their retention and draft picks, the sides have been left with different amounts. Rs 2 Crore is the highest base price category this time. This means that for the players in this category the bidding will start at Rs 2 Cr. The rules this time stated that – A team cannot retain more than 4 players. They weren’t allowed to retain more than 3 Indian players and 2 overseas players. Also, a team could retain a maximum of 2 uncapped players.
