According to a report by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the month of October was very eventful. This month witnessed a massive surge in the number of Reliance Jio users. As a result, its top-notch competitors have witnessed a dwindle in their number of users. While Jio had lost 1.9 crore users in the previous month (September), it managed to further expand its user base by 17.61 lakh in October. As per the TRAI report, during October, Bharti Airtel had lost 4.89 lakh users as compared to Vodafone’s loss of 9.64 lakh customers. The total number of telephone subscribers in India increased to 1,189.62 million (118.96 crores) at the end of October 2021, with a monthly growth rate of 0.04 percent.

At the end of October 2021, Reliance Jio has the largest user base in India with 42.65 crore users. The second place is held by Bharti Airtel with a subscriber base at the end of October 2021 of 35.39 crores. Vodafone has a subscriber base of 26.9 crores as per the October stats. VIL has also lost 10.77 lakh customers in September, the report says. Other statistics pointed out by the TRAI report of the October month include the total number of telephone subscribers in India to be 118.96 crores with a monthly rate of increase of 0.04 percent. Besides this, the urban subscription stands at 65.88 crores at the end of October 2021, while the rural subscriber base has increased to an impressive 53.07 crore. On top of that, the top five wireless broadband service providers at the end of October were Reliance Jio (42.66 crores), Bharti Airtel (20.47 crore), Vodafone Idea (12.24 crore), BSNL (1.98 crores), and Tikona Infinet (3 lakh).
