Veran told the media that keeping in mind the highly contagious nature of the Omicron variant, they are not aiming to prevent its spreading. They are aiming to immunize the people against this variant. As a result, they are also administering booster doses at a faster pace.
He hoped that by Christmas, 22-23 million booster doses will be administered from the current number of 20 million. While European countries like Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands, and Germany have partially reimposed the COVID restrictions. On the other hand, UK and France are most likely not going to reimpose the COVID restrictions. However, they haven’t ruled out its possibility either.
It is to be seen how France battles this fifth wave of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Will its approach to vaccinating people with booster doses work against the new variant?
