After India’s defeat in the recent test series against South Africa, Team India captain Virat Kohli announced his withdrawal from the captaincy in Test cricket on 17 January 2022. It came as a disappointment to all the cricket aficionados as well as Virat’s fans. No sooner does the question come up than Who will be the next test captain? BCCI sources have revealed that the selection committee will come to a decision, yet nothing has been decided. India has its next test series with Srilanka. Amidst these conversations, the Former BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale confronted that KL Rahul should succeed Viral Kohli as the next test captain. He also added that he feels that the next test captain should be the one who can take the responsibility for a longer period. He also stated that Rahul took over the captaincy in the second test against South Africa when both Virat and Rohit suffered injuries. He has played in all three formats of the game. He also stressed the fact that the BCCI and selectors should ensure that IPL ‘power centres’ must not interfere in Indian cricket. He meant that KL Rahul should not be judged according to his performance in IPL. He is captain of Kings XI Punjab which isn’t a very strong team. He also added that Kohli took the Indian team to new heights in his tenure of captaincy. Kohli is considered one of the most successful captains of the Indian team.
