The Coronavirus Pandemic has been gripping the world since early 2020 and shows no signs of ending. Every few months we see a new variant arising which affects millions of families all around the world. The latest Omicron variant shows no sign of stopping either. Experts say that there are no signs of coronavirus ending however the symptoms will be less effective to people. Assessments found by Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) models indicate that on around Jan 17, 2022, there were 125 million omicron infections a day in the world, which is more than ten times the maximum of the delta wave in April 2021.
The omicron wave is entering every continent with only a limited number of countries in eastern Europe, North Africa, southeast Asia, and Oceania yet to commence their wave of this covid variant. Discerning the weight of the omicron variant relies mainly on the proportion of asymptomatic infections. A systematic review founded on prior Covid-19 variants implied that 40% of infections were asymptomatic. The omicron wave can be limited by boosting mask use, enhancing vaccination coverage in people who have not been vaccinated, or distributing third doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The increasing mask use in advance of the wave will have a more substantial effect only in the countries where the wave hasn’t started. Protections like these still function to safeguard individuals from coronavirus, however, the Omicron wave is fast pacing that policy actions will have a small effect on its course worldwide in the next 4 to 6 weeks.
