In the concern of rising covid virus infection cases, French President Emmanuel Macron issued a statement requesting people (adults) to get booster shots to fight the infections that are increasing tension across Europe. Any person who is over the age of 65 and has been vaccinated more than six months, will need to get the booster shot by mid-December if they wish to keep the validity of their “health pass”, Macron said. A health pass is required for the people to go to all restaurants, malls and other public venues in France. To get a pass, people need to get proof of COVID-19 vaccination, a negative RT PCR report or another report of any recent recovery from covid.
In a televised speech, Macron said, “ ‘Each of us must play our part’ to avoid another unfortunate and deadly ‘fifth wave’ of coronavirus.”He informed that the booster shots in France that are presently authorised for people over 65 or with underlying health conditions, will soon be expanded for the people who are of age 50 and over by December. Macron requested the 6 million unvaccinated people of France to get their vaccine dose and protect themselves. He stressed how the majority of people who are hospitalized due to covid infection were unvaccinated.

About 75 per cent of the population of France is fully vaccinated which includes about 88 per cent of the adults. That is among the higher rates in Europe, but vaccinations have hit a plateau in recent weeks. Macron also spoke about how his government is trying to boost the economy. The speech came from the minister came out as the cases in European countries were seen going up again and the same condition that was previously seen in hospitals was coming back as the vaccination process slows down.
