Natasha Noel – Early life:
Unknown incidents in Natash Noel Childhood days:
Incident 1:
Starting with her childhood, Natasha Noel had disturbing experiences for a normal 7 year old child. Normally, childhood is a phase of happiness in life but not for Natasha as she was abused, when she was 7 years old, by a male servant whose mother even asked her to run away with him and get married. And to our surprise this didn’t stop herewith, she was mistreated and molested by her uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters till the age of 15. Living with such horrendous memories would require real guts for life.
While telling her life story, she discussed precisely about her feelings and emotions. She said when we go through something like this, we start to feel worthless and that the world is conspiring against us. She used to feel so disgusted about herself that she stopped looking at herself in the mirror. Adding to which, she says disgusted would be a far simpler word to describe what she used to feel. She felt grotesque. She felt so ugly that she wanted to cut off part of her body.
Then maybe she might feel better or maybe that would divert the pain she was going through internally. She started loathing herself. Noel became insecure and isolated herself. She stopped listening to herself; she started believing more in what others said about her and not her inner being. For so long she ran away from her wounded inner child. She just was repressing her emotions and destroying herself every moment.
For all those who have faced or going through such experiences, she suggests to release up and start sharing their experiences openly. One really needs to open up to their real beings to face up the dark realities of life. This would not only help coming out of trauma but also you get to know others correlating stories and you feel connected with the world and those around you.
Incident 2:
Natasha even witnessed the death of her mother who committed suicide by burning herself to flames. She blamed herself for the death of her mother. In her one interview with a magazine, she said her mother had committed suicide. She saw her burning alive before her eyes. Even today those pictures are fresh in her head. She used to curse herself for almost half her life for her mother’s death. In her mind, it was like a movie and she couldn’t sleep through the night. Even though, somewhere deep down she knew it wasn’t exactly her fault but that trauma led her to keep cursing herself for many days.
One can only imagine her feelings when she went through all these horrible experiences. We would certainly appreciate her for her courage and zeal for dealing with such incidents at that young age.
Passion for Dance
By the age of 17, Natasha Noel found her soul in dancing. She considered dancing as her medium of escape and diversion from weak past experiences. Dance gave her the strength and hope she required to live life. But unfortunately, she met with an accident in the second year of her college. She was suggested rest for a couple of days but she went back on dancing against the advisory. This move led to more adversity as it tore her knee cap, corneal muscles and had liquid in her knee.
At times it was alright for her as at that time she was pursuing her graduation and also getting into photography. Since now she can’t dance, she has to divert herself to some other engagement. So she became a professional photographer and used to click pictures of dancers – this would help her to stay close to her real calling: Dance. But she wasn’t completely herself and still was trying to fill up the emptiness inside her. But somewhere around this time, she failed a year in college and that just compounded her grief.
She stopped self love and self acceptance. Eventually, she turned to other negative diversions like drinking, smoking etc. Natasha Noel had been drinking and smoking since 15 but it all reached its peak when her 5-year long relationship broke down. She resorted to other torturous, self harming deeds and went into a deep depression, self hatred and became a mess of a person. Noel gained a lot of weight and had to deal with continuous anxiety and mental pressure. She isolated herself from everyone and ultimately started focusing on herself. Initiating from giving up junk food and eating healthy, her journey to real life happiness began. Also know about another dancer, Deepika Pilli, here.
Passion for Yoga
Natasha Noel believes strongly in the benefits of Yoga. She tells how yoga helped her overcome depression and paved her way through life. Natasha’s Instagram page is full of snaps of her Yoga poses along with motivational and life saving captions.
During her one interview, she confirmed that she started doing yoga for mental health reasons. Yoga taught her self-acceptance and self love regardless of her deep insecurities and avoiding her inner demons. Yoga taught her to be in the present moment, which was something she was not able to do earlier. She was depressed- so she used to always stay in her past and she was anxious, which made her be more worrisome regarding her future. This made her going to and forth between her past and future being forgetful about her present. In her terms, karma yoga talks about doing things and letting them be. She herself practices karma yoga.
Her favourite yoga pose is Pawanmukhtasana, the pose of lying down and hugging your legs. She practices yoga every day and spreads enlightenment about yoga through her posts in a regular way. Her pictures and posts whereby she was practising yoga poses in an aeroplane surfaced on the internet. She believes that everyone should practice stretching and yoga for at least 20 minutes every day.
For the last 2 or 3 years, she has been attending the International Yoga Festival, which takes place in Rishikesh. Going down her memory lane, she says the most picturesque place she performed yoga was at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort and Spa when it was snowing. For her very faith, she says if you have a body, you can do yoga.
Thus, our very own yogini definitely has paved her way out from hardships through Yoga, her ultimate faith and identity. She enjoys a good fan following on social media handles like Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
